Because of, or in spite of?

Fact, Eternal life is a gift, gained by simply believing IN Jesus Christ.  (Jn 6:47 JN 3:16, Eph 2:8-9, 1Tim 1:16, etc.

Question:  Do you receive that gift In spite of what you have or will ever do, or because of things you have done or will do?

Thought:  If its in spite of what you have or will ever do, but then you can lose it because of something you have done....

Great point and great question to ask people about eternal life. Too many, even Christians, seem to lean towards the idea that good behavior in some way qualifies one for Heaven, and bad behavior is the determining factor for Hell. I am in no way defending believers sinning or living a life of sin. The fact remains: Either eternal life is grounded in nothing but the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ, or, it is grounded in our works and efforts. And I am convinced as the Bible is clear: It is grounded in the finished work and the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Maybe you should reword this so it is more clear what you are saying.

Oh come on !

You mean to tell me that if you became a dope smoking , beer and whiskey swilling , heroin and cocaine dealing , philandering pornographer and murdered untold numbers of innocent people , while holding (till death) a ravenous and rabid atheism - you would STILL go to heaven ?

What sort of ¨easy believism¨ and ¨cheap grace¨ would you be accused of THEN ?

What some would call cheap, I would say Christ's blood has untold value, and so much so that I can't compare, either to help or hinder once I have believed.
